Happy Mother's Day! This was my first celebrating it with my son. Though we really celebrated it yesterday because I was desperate to get out of the house. (As a housewife, my house is my "work office" and I need a break from that occasionally!) So we put Josiah and his stroller in our car and drove over to a local outdoor shopping mall in town. There are two restaurants in this shopping mall that I absolutely adore: Chuy's and The Cheesecake Factory. I decided on The Cheesecake Factory and we headed in a couple hours before the dinner crowd arrived. If you've ever been to The Cheesecake Factory, you've seen their book menu that is full of all kinds of different food options. I couldn't decide between the "Fish and Chips" or "Orange Chicken," but luckily I have a husband who likes the same things I do, so we ordered both and split them (and with the baby). |
Both entrees are HUGE, even split between two people and an 11 month old that eats like a toddler! We ate half of each and took the rest home to eat for lunch today. The thing with leftover fried food is it doesn't taste good or even worth eating (in my opinion) if microwaved the next day. But today when I was ready to eat lunch, I thought I'd try something new. Something that I'm sure everyone but me knows... why not re-heat those fried left overs on the broil setting in the oven?
I broiled the fish and chips on high for a few minutes and it was perfect! Fried food is always better the first time around, but leftovers lightly broiled in the oven are the next best thing! Now I will re-think throwing away leftover fried food from now on.
I hope you have a great Mother's Day and if you have fried leftover food tomorrow, try briefly broiling it to get the crispy goodness back!
